The National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the Department of the Air Force (DAF) invite the public to learn about the proposal to locate one formal training unit (FTU) squadron of F-35A Lightning II aircraft at the 173d Fighter Wing (173 FW) at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon. You are invited to attend an informational meeting to learn more about this proposal, ask questions, and to submit comments. Please review this site for:
- information on the status and schedule of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
- documents and references available for review
- opportunities for public involvement
- methods to submit comments during the designated public comment periods

Public Scoping Period
Public involvement is an integral part of the Environmental Impact Analysis Process. The public has an important role in providing input during this process to help the NGB make more informed decisions about implementing this proposal.
Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, NGB initiated the public scoping period with publication of the Notice of Intent in the Federal Register, for developing an EIS to evaluate the potential impacts of implementing the proposal to locate one FTU squadron of F-35A Lightning II aircraft at the 173 FW at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon. NGB is requesting the public's input on the scope of the EIS. Comments are due by July 11, 2024, but comments submitted after this will still be reviewed and considered throughout the process.

How to Submit Written Scoping Comments
NGB requests and welcomes your comments on this proposal. Comments are due by July 11, 2024, to be considered in development of the Draft EIS, but comments received after this will still be reviewed and considered throughout the process. Comments can be submitted by one of the following methods:
