Comment Period on Cultural Resources Revisions
The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is inviting the public to review and comment on a revised section of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
This special 10-day review period, running from August 21 to August 31, 2026, is focused exclusively on Section 3.9: Cultural Resources.
Following consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the determination for certain historic properties on base has been revised to "Adverse Effect." To ensure full transparency and compliance, the DAF is providing this additional opportunity for public involvement specifically on the updated analysis, findings, and mitigation measures within Section 3.9.

The National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the Department of the Air Force (DAF) invite the public to review this project website for the latest information on the proposal to beddown and operate one formal training unit squadron of F-35A Lightning II aircraft at the 173d Fighter Wing (173 FW) at Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base (ANGB) located at Crater Lake–Klamath Regional Airport in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Comment Period on Cultural Resources Revisions
The Draft EIS was made available via this website, and hard copies of the document were available at local libraries. A public comment period took place from April 10, 2026 to May 11, 2026, during which time the public was invited to review the Draft EIS and submit comments on the analysis. All substantive comments received during the comment period have been reviewed and addressed in the Final EIS, as appropriate, to inform the DAF’s decision-making process. The subject of this announcement is to inform the public that the Cultural Resources section of the Draft EIS has been substantially revised and as such, this section of the EIS is available for further public review and comment from August 21, 2026 to August 31, 2026.

The public is encouraged to review the revised Cultural Resources section and provide written comments by August 31, 2026.
